Our Feminist Team Values

As a team, we utilize a feminist framework to organize our work. Here are a few ways we embody feminism as team values.

• Team Value #1: We value using technology intentionally to build communities and enhance learning, while also examining the “why” in addition to the “what” when working with technology and data.
• Team Value #2: We value connecting to the personal and to communities outside of academia, while also uncovering the causes of inequality and leveraging resources toward undoing power structures
• Team Value #3: We value being treated agentic co-educators and promoting cooperative learning, even when this is more difficult for us.
• Team Value #4: We value building equity, trust, mutual respect, and support
• Team Value #5: We value cultivating self-care and boundaries
• Team Value 6: We value our work in examining how gender, intersecting with other social categories, structures our lives, learning, and knowledge production, access to resources and information.

These values were taken from the "Feminist Pedagogy for Teaching Online" Guide.

Our Collaborative Charter

This charter details the values and inclusive practices of the Technology and Digital Humanities Lab at Newcomb Institute. Within our lab community, we constantly strive towards practicing our values. Lab members formed this charter through a collaborative process that included brainstorming session and peer review.

This draft of the charter was created for the student programs at Newcomb Institute’s Lab but many of the students and philosophies were transferred to CAIDS. We will work to update this charter to our new programs this upcoming year and revisit the charter yearly.
